St. Louis (CNSNews.com) - Missouri United States Senator Christopher "Kit" Bond (R) says he will lead the charge and is calling for an investigation of allegations of voter fraud Tuesday in St. Louis where some polls stayed open past their scheduled closing time."It's highly suspicious," Bond said at a Thursday news conference, "that there are evidences of a conspiracy, or a scheme, to keep the polls open so you could get more votes in an area where they run 70-30 Democratic."

Rolla, MO (CNSNews.com) - Jean Carnahan made it official Monday, saying she will accept an appointment to the U.S. Senate if her late husband, Missouri Governor Mel Carnahan wins the November 7 election against incumbent GOP Senator John Ashcroft. Carnahan made the announcement at a news conference at the family farm near Rolla, Missouri.Governor Carnahan, his son Roger and campaign aide Chris Sifford died in a plane crash near St. Louis October 16. Carnahan was attempting to unseat Ashcroft, who was first elected to the seat in 1994.
