"We don't need an extreme, unbalanced budget that won't balance in your lifetime or mine, Sen. Mitch McConnell said today regarding Pres. Obama's new budget plan.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) blasted the plan for being both extreme and ineffective at addressing the nation's financial woes:
"We need a balanced budget that encourages growth and job creation. We don't need an extreme, unbalanced budget that won't balance in your lifetime or mine."
"Now, the White House initially made some fantastic claims about the amount of deficit reduction supposedly contained in its budget.
"But when you cut through the spin and get to the facts, it looks like there's less than $600 billion worth of reduction in there - and that's over a decade - all of it coming from tax increases."
"In other words, it's not a serious plan. For the most part, just another left-wing wish list."
Items on that wish list appear to include tax hikes - including a 20 percent increase in the "charity tax" - a universal early education preschool program and manufacturing innovation institutes and makes permanent research and development tax breaks and renewable energy tax credits.
