"That exact thing happened to me," Lanny Davis told WMAL radio this morning in regards to the White House's reported threat against Bob Woodward.
Davis, who used to write a column for The Washington Times, claimed that Times editor John Solomon was "threatened" by a "senior Obama White House official" for running Davis's column. Solomon was told that "if he continued to run my columns, he would lose, or his reporters would lose, their White House credentials" according to Davis.
Davis went on to explain that "the editor called me and, um, said that there was an implication that if you don't stop running Davis's column, we're not going to treat you so well. And, the implication was we'll even take away your credentials." Davis also said that the editor, John Solomon, "didn't take it seriously because he didn't think that could ever happen." Apparently, Solomon labeled it "blustering."
After making a few phone calls, Lanny Davis says he "got a call back from someone who was in the White House saying it'll never happen again." However, Davis says he decided to share this story now because "the same person is there" and he believes that person may be the one who threatened Bob Woodward.
"Now that it's happened again and the same person, I believe, is there, I'm just putting two and two together and getting four," Davis claimed. "Maybe I'm wrong," he cautioned.
Given how fast the liberal media turned on Bob Woodward in order to protect the Obama White House, it'll be interesting to see how they react to Lanny Davis's claim that John Solomon was threatened for running his columns. It'll be even more interesting to see if any other journalists or columnists have the guts to speak up about ways they feel the White House intimidated them.
Is this a common occurrence or are Lanny Davis, John Solomon, and Bob Woodward they only ones who've ever felt threatened by the White House?
