FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a missing 9-year-old Indiana girl has been found dead, and a family friend who had been watching the girl is facing murder charges.

Allen County sheriff's spokesman Cpl. Jeremy Tinkel said Monday night that investigators found the body of Aliahna Lemmon in the county, but he wouldn't say where.

Tinkel said 39-year-old Mike Plumadore was arrested and is being held on a murder charge. He's scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Aliahna was reported missing Friday night. FBI agents joined the search Monday, descending on the mobile home park where she lived that's a known haven for registered sex offenders.

Plumadore isn't on Indiana's registered sex offenders list. He has a criminal record in Florida and North Carolina that includes convictions for trespassing and assault.
