Montel Williams: Administration's Inaction on VA 'As Ignorant and Distasteful as Giving Them the Middle Finger'

Montel Williams, host of the long-running Montel Williams Show, Naval Academy graduate and 22 year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, savaged Obama's West Point speech yesterday saying that the government's inaction on the VA scandal is equivalent to giving veterans the middle finger:

"Who is going to go down and sign up and enlist today, when they know the government they've signed up and enlisted to protect, is doing nothing but lying?" Williams asked. "Because when they come home - you know, I hate to say it this way, but it's as ignorant and distasteful as giving them the middle finger."

"The president just promised five billion dollars for terrorists around the world at West Point?! Where he could have used the day to say, 'I'm sorry for the pain that I've caused you, the families, and I'm gonna fix it today!'"

Williams was by turns livid and close to tears as he discussed the VA scandal. He said, "I'm angry because, you know, we made a promise. When I stood with my hand up proudly, I said, 'I do solemnly swear and affirm to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic and I will bear true faith,' I went through with my oath."

"I told the world 'I'm willing to put my life on the line and die for you.' Now, our guys went over. They left body parts. Some of them never made it back. Some of them are here now and their souls are still there," Williams went on. "And we have the audacity to turn our back on them right this second?"

"I'm going to tell you something - all societies are judged by what we do for the least of us. The least of us are the ones who protected this democracy. We owe this debt. More than anything else."

Williams started to shout: "The president just promised five billion dollars for terrorists around the world at West Point?! Where he could have used the day to say, 'I'm sorry for the pain that I've caused you, the families, and I'm gonna fix it today!'"

In an almost ten-minute long interview on Fox News with Neil Cavuto yesterday, Williams angrily condemned the government and the Obama administration for their inaction on the Veterans Administration scandal.

"That BBQ you had on Sunday was paid for on the backs of soldiers who left body parts on the battlefield - you have no right to forget," Williams said.
