The Huffington Post has hired a new ‘politics fellow’ for their site, and lucky for HuffPo’s readers, his commentary will be backed up by zero experience covering politics or government.
Former NFL Wide Receiver Donte’ Stallworth’s new position and focus on national security should be tempered by his previous statements on everything from American oppression of African Americans to conspiracy theories about the terrorist attacks on 9/11.
Stallworth tweeted in 2009 that there was “NO WAY 9/11 was carried out by ‘dying’ Bin Laden, 19 men who couldn't fly a damn kite.”
NO WAY 9/11 was carried out by "dying" Bin Laden, 19 men who couldn't fly a damn kite. STILL have NO EVIDENCE Osama was connected, like Iraq— Donte' Stallworth (@DonteStallworth) July 20, 2009
In 2013, Stallworth blamed Ronald Reagan for “flooding” inner cities with cocaine in order to destroy “certain neighborhoods.”
Also, allegedly America doesn't negotiate with terrorists... but the Reagan admin sure did just that in the 1980s....— Donte' Stallworth (@DonteStallworth) October 21, 2013
While FLOODING our inner cities with (crack) cocaine that destroyed "certain" neighborhoods...— Donte' Stallworth (@DonteStallworth) October 21, 2013
USA Today described Stallworth’s new gig as “breaking into political journalism.” Indeed. As opposed to the best and brightest, HuffPo is banking on the inexperienced and extreme.
UPDATE: Stallworth appeared to walk back his conspiratorial 9/11 views today:
Just to be clear, I no longer feel the way I did in that tweet 5 years ago.— Donte' Stallworth (@DonteStallworth) September 4, 2014
