The Iowa Department of Human Services is telling 16,000 residents who signed up for Obamacare that they will need to reapply or that they may not have coverage come January.
According to the Des Moines Register, state officials say that they can not guarantee that those who signed up for Obamacare in Iowa will have coverage if they need to see a doctor.
All Iowans who signed up on the federal website, Healthcare.Gov, are being urged to reapply for Obamacare on the state website.
Officials say that the problems stem from a technical issue resulting in the failure of the federal website to transfer certain applications to the state website.
Iowa received $59 million in taxpayer money in order to set up the state system that was supposed to be capable of communicating efficiently with Healthcare.gov.
