Earlier this year Sherri West was ill at a hospital in Oregon. Her sickness had taken a turn for the worst, but there was still one thing she wished to see in her lifetime.
She wanted to be present at the marriage of her daughter and her longtime boyfriend.
Pressed for time and concerned for her ailing mother, bride-to-be Sarah West was worried about not having a dress or flowers.
According to KPTV, that’s where oncology nurse Laura Peterson of Salem Hospital stepped in.
"She (Sarah) said 'I don't have time to plan all of this and my focus needs to be on my mom,'" Peterson said, "Absolutely. I'm back tonight. Let me work on things."
Peterson helped put together the wedding in three days time. But she wasn’t the only one in the community to help out.
Local businesses donated the flowers, the wedding dress, hairstyling and makeup. A harpist also volunteered.
After witnessing her daughter’s marriage Sherri West says on video, “I can die happy.”
The video posted by Salem Hospital is dedicated to her memory.
