Beck Endorses Constitutional Convention of the States

Glenn Beck told Mark Levin that he is a “huge supporter” of the Article V provision allowing for two thirds of state legislatures to call for a convention to offer constitutional amendments. Beck was a guest on Levin’s radio program Thursday night, stating he was for the process “110 percent.”

Levin: “I don’t want to put you on the spot, and you don’t have to agree with me, but I have been pressing the case for the Article V state convention process.

Beck: No, no, no, you don’t have to tell me. I know exactly what you’re doing, and I don’t know if you know this, I am a huge supporter of it. I have told the people at The Blaze to cover it, to make sure that we were there for— I know it’s not exactly the same group that is in Mount Vernon, but they’re close enough. These are lawmakers. I know there’s other groups out there, that are citizens that are doing it.

Levin: The more the better.

Beck: You are exactly right. I have not been for a constitutional convention, because you know, you kind of open things up, but you know what? This was the ‘break glass in case of an emergency.’ This is our last resort. They put it there as the people’s response to a government that would do exactly what this government is doing, and if you can’t do it now, if we can’t get together and say, ‘It’s out of control, $17 trillion,’ there’s nothing left later. There’s nothing left. This is what it was intended for. You are exactly right, and I’m a huge supporter. I’m in 110 percent.

Levin: Wow, that’s great to hear, and you know that are things that need to be done, and can be done to make sure it’s not a ‘runaway process’ and they’re doing it, these state legislators. They’re looking at it. Some of them have passed bills in Indiana and so forth. It’s very exciting if we can get this thing going, and it’ll scare the hell out of these people in Washington.

Beck: I don’t really care if we scare the hell out of them. I don’t care what happens to them, I really don’t care. This is about our country. This is about the freedom of mankind. Not just here, all over the world. All over the world. When you have people saying, ‘Well you know the new model is China.’ Really? Does anybody in this country want to work for the Apple factory in China? Cause I don’t. That shouldn’t be the new model, that shouldn’t even be considered. Now is the model that we’re doing right now or doing under George W. Bush the one?

No. No, that was $10 trillion, we’re not $17 trillion in debt, and I don’t know about you, but there’s no real freedom here the way they’re regulating absolutely everything. That’s not freedom, we have the chance to free man for the first time. 1821 a letter between John Adams and Jefferson. One of them says to the other, ‘You know it’s gonna fall apart. We didn’t put enough Deuteronomy in it.’ The other one says, ‘I know but trust the people, because when it fails they’ll see what we were trying to do, and they will do it better.’ We’re those people. We are those people. And this is the time to do it. Article V was put there for a reason. This isn’t pulling it out and saying, ‘Well it wasn’t really meant for this,’ this is the reason it was put there. Use it.
