Delaware Governor Tweets Picture of Estonian Woman in Bondage

September 4, 2014 - 2:23 PM

Gov. Jack Markell (D-Del.) accidentally posted a photo from his Twitter account Thursday of a woman dressed in bondage in an apparent link mix-up.

The tweet in question was supposed to be about a new education initiative to support disadvantaged students, but a photo of a woman with leather straps accompanied the tweet on education.

A reporter from WHYY in Delaware spotted the tweet before the governor had a chance to delete it:

Apparently the photo in question is of an Estonian model named Darja aka "Precious Little."

"Precious Little" also has an Instagram account under "PreciousLittleModel" where she posts everything from selfies to pictures of shoes.

The picture in question was posted in December 2010, but for some reason the link surfaced in the image.

The governor's office released a statement with an updated photo from the education event.

“During this morning’s event, a tweet was composed with a link to what was supposed to be a picture that had just been uploaded to the internet of the Governor’s education announcement. While the tweet was being edited, the auto-generated link for the picture was inadvertently altered. As a result, the picture linked to the tweet was a random, unrelated, and inappropriate picture that has been on the internet since 2010, and not the just-uploaded picture of the event. The tweet was deleted and we apologize for the error.”

“The lessons here are not to compose tweets too quickly and there is a lot of odd stuff on the internet. We just wish the accidental link had been a cat video.”

Precious Little also responded to the incident on Twitter calling it an "honest mistake."
