SPANISH FORK, Utah (AP) — Two teenage girls died and another was critically injured after they were struck by a train in Utah.

The Daily Herald of Provo reports the girls were taking photos when they were hit Saturday evening in Spanish Fork Canyon.

Utah County sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon says the girls were either on or near the train tracks when one train started to pass them and another train came by in the opposite direction.

He says the girls apparently became caught between the two trains, and the wind created by the trains may have pushed them into the path of one of them. The victims' names and ages were not immediately released.

Two of the girls are sisters and the other is a cousin. They're from the Spanish Fork area.
