3 killed in Croatia fire caused by lightning

ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — Croatian authorities say three people have been killed and 11 injured when a fire broke out after a lightning struck a nursing home.

The incident happened in the northern town of Bjelovar when a storm hit the region after a sudden drop in temperatures that has engulfed much of central and eastern Europe.

Croatian authorities say the fire in nursing home was brought under control about 20 minutes after the lightning struck.
