(CNSNews.com) - Most of the fireworks used in this year’s Independence Day festivities on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., were made in the People’s Republic of China, according to the company that produced the fireworks show.
China is governed by a Communist regime. The Fourth of July celebrates the birthday of the United States of America as a free and independent republic.
Only 20 percent of the fireworks in this year’s show were made in the United States., according to Lansden Hill, president of PyroShows, the company that ran this year’s production.
Most of the remaining 80 percent of the fireworks were made in China, according to Hill.
Hill told CNSNews.com that “80 percent of the 80 percent, maybe even 90 percent of the 80 percent” of the foreign-made fireworks set off this year in the sky above the National Mall were made in China. The rest of the imported fireworks used for the annual celebration on the National Mall came from Spain.
Hill’s company, PyroShows, is one of a handful of companies that are authorized to shoot fireworks over the National Mall.
The specific company that handles the production on the Mall varies from year to year, but Hill said that importing fireworks from China is a common practice among pyrotechnic companies.
