NEW YORK (AP) — The advocacy group GLAAD is giving ABC Family an "excellent" rating for how it portrays gays and lesbians on the network.
It's only the second cable or broadcast network to get such a designation in the five years that the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has studied television content. MTV last year was the first.
GLAAD says ABC Family routinely depicts gays and lesbians in its programming and does so in a realistic manner.
ABC Family's chief executive Michael Riley says the network is proud to be recognized by GLAAD.
