Albanian arrested on US drug trafficking charges
TIRANA, Albania (AP) — Albanian authorities say they have arrested and will extradite an Albanian former United States resident sought by the U.S. to face drug trafficking charges.
A police statement Tuesday identified the suspect as Armand Mara, 37.
The statement said the Federal Bureau of Investigation has accused him of involvement in a criminal organization that trafficked some 50 kilograms (110 pounds) of cocaine from California to Boston, Massachusetts in 2010-2012.
It said a Massachusetts court issued an international arrest warrant for Mara in November 2012.
