Anti-Byrd Website Details Senator's Ties to MoveOn.Org

(CNSNews.com) - The National Republican Senatorial Committee Tuesday launched a website, MoveOnByrd.org, in honor of Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) and his "cozy relationship with one of the most liberal special interest groups in the country."

The website is in response to the money (at least $834,000) Byrd has raised from anti-Bush group MoveOn.org, the NTSC said.

"The website clearly demonstrates that Senator Byrd's blame America first agenda is out of touch with mainstream West Virginians and it is time for a change," said NRSC spokesman Brian Nick in a statement.

"At this point in his career, he is clearly more comfortable with the ideology of the radical left than the values of West Virginians," Nick added.

The website will serve as a clearinghouse for information regarding Byrd and "his opposition to the agenda overwhelmingly supported by the voters of his state, including Byrd's statements, votes and actions.

Meanwhile, Byrd formally announced Tuesday intentions to run for the Senate a record ninth time. Byrd will be the longest-serving member in Senate history in June. He previously served six years in the U.S. House.
