AP NewsBreak: Death of skydiver probable suicide
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The death of a champion skydiver whose body was found beneath a cliff outside Moab has been ruled a probable suicide.
Moab Police Chief Mike Navarre says a medical examiner believes 37-year-old Dave Brown killed himself.
The chief says Brown was on a hike June 29 when he fell about 300 feet. His remains were found by hikers about four months later.
Originally from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Brown had been living in the United States for about a decade. He moved to Utah to teach skydiving several months before he vanished.
The U.S. Parachute Association says Brown was an early pioneer in the sport of vertical formation skydiving and held several awards.
Family members say Brown was a world record-holding national champion skydiver with more than 13,000 jumps.
