APNewsBreak: Gibson's ex files appeal over lawyer
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Attorneys for Mel Gibson's ex-girlfriend are asking an appeals court to step into the former couple's bitter custody dispute and remove the Oscar winner's attorneys from the case because she consulted with their firm.
Oksana Grigorieva (gree-GOR'-yeh-vuh) is contesting a judge's ruling last month that she waited too long to allege that Gibson's attorneys should be blocked from handling the case because she had consulted with one of their law partners.
Grigorieva's appeal states she met with the firm in 2008 while dealing with custody issues with actor Timothy Dalton. The former James Bond actor and the Russian musician have a son together.
Gibson and Grigorieva have been sparring in a confidential court case in Los Angeles for a year over custody of their infant daughter.
