( Education Secretary Arne Duncan, appearing at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday was asked what he thought about teachers in South Carolina redistributing school supplies that students bring in so that “no one feels left out.”

“I never thought of South Carolina as socialist,” Duncan answered.

National Press Club President Theresa Werner had asked Duncan a question from the audience, saying, “It seems public schools are becoming more socialist. In South Carolina, the kids bring their school supplies to a giant bank and then teachers distribute so no one feels left out. What is your opinion of this?”
