ATLANTA (AP) — A Georgia attorney says he filed an emergency motion to fight the eviction of a local activist known as the "Chicken Man" minutes before a deadly blast tore his home apart.
Attorney Ryan Strickland says he wishes Andrew Wordes had realized "he had options, he had a way out."
Authorities believe Wordes blew himself up on Monday as marshals prepared to evict him. Wordes was known for his fight to keep dozens of chickens and livestock at his home in Roswell.
Medical examiners are working to identify the body found in the house. They say it could take days.
Before the explosion, Wordes asked a local reporter to warn the marshals to back off. Fire officials believe he then poured gasoline in the house and set it on fire.
