Attys: Strauss-Kahn NYC court date put off to Aug.

NEW YORK (AP) — Dominique Strauss-Kahn's New York court date is being postponed to August, and his lawyers say they hope his next appearance will be the last of the sexual assault case.

Prosecutors and defense lawyers said Monday that the July 18 date was postponed until Aug. 1.

The case has been cast into doubt after prosecutors said the hotel maid who accused the former International Monetary Fund leader of trying to rape her hadn't been truthful about her background and her actions right after the alleged attack.

The Manhattan district attorney's office said in a letter that the postponement is "to facilitate both parties' continued investigation." A spokeswoman says no decision has been made about the case's future.

Defense lawyers say they hope prosecutors will use the time to decide to dismiss the case.
