(CNSNews.com) – Comedian Bill Maher said Friday on “Real Time with Bill Maher” that Jesus “bitched” about the rich, but never said anything about homosexuality.

“Jesus bitched endlessly about the rich. It’s on every page--I’ve read his book--never said a word about homosexuality. Neither did the founding fathers. Where do people like this get off channeling what dead people think about a subject they never spoke of?” Maher said, referring to Fox News host and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Chick-Fil-A President Dan Cathy.

The Huffington Post reported that Cathy tweeted a response to the Supreme Court ruling that the Defense of Marriage Act was unconstitutional because it denies federal benefits to same-sex partners.

Cathy reportedly said it was a “sad day” for the nation and the “founding fathers would be ashamed.” The tweet was later deleted.

Also, Huckabee tweeted: “My thoughts on the SCOTUS ruling that determined that same sex marriage is okay: ‘Jesus wept.’ -- Gov. Mike Huckabee (@GovMikeHuckabee) June 26, 2013”

“Mike Huckabee tweeted yesterday after the ruling. He said, ‘Jesus wept,’” Maher said. “And the Chik-Fil-A guy, who I mentioned in the monologue, said the founding fathers would be ashamed. Okay, these are two groups of people who never said a word about homosexuality.”

“Why is Jesus weeping? I know we all cry at weddings, but…” Maher said.
