September 17, 2011

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A commercial flight from Las Vegas to Reno has been delayed temporarily while waiting for a delivery of blood following a plane crash at a Reno air race.

Southwest Flight 2990 was delayed a short time late Friday after the pilot told passengers he was waiting for an emergency blood supply intended for victims of the crash.

Blood banks were encouraging people to donate in the wake of Friday's crash at the National Championship Air Races.

The wreck left three people dead, including the pilot, and injured more than 50 spectators.
