DA: Autopsy set for man who killed Pa. officer
LOWER BURRELL, Pa. (AP) — An autopsy is planned for the wanted man police say killed a Pittsburgh-area police officer before dying in a hail of gunfire.
Westmoreland County District Attorney John Peck says it's unclear whether 33-year-old Charlie Arthur Post killed himself or was shot by police after he killed Officer Derek Kotecki outside a Dairy Queen restaurant in Lower Burrell.
Post had been wanted since October 2, when officials say he fired several shots at his boss in the parking lot of a motel in the neighboring city of New Kensington.
Authorities say several officers were converging on the restaurant when Post stepped out of his vehicle and opened fire.
Peck says Kotecki was a K-9 officer and 18-year veteran of the Lower Burrell Police Department. He was married with two children.
