(CNSNews.com)Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) says President Obama, given the chance, might treat him the same way he treated a bust of the late British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

"I’m pretty sure he also would like to send my head back to England,” Cruz said as he accepted a statesmanship award from the Claremont Institute for the Study of Statesmanship and Public Policy on March 15.

“I am truly humbled by that incredibly kind introduction and in particular to be given an award named after the great Sir Winston Churchill,” Cruz said.

“I will note there may be one person on the planet who would find that comparison not altogether crazy, and that would be Barack Obama. Because I’m pretty sure that he also would like to send my head back to England.”

Cruz was referring to a bust of Churchill that was displayed in the Oval Office during the tenure of President George W. Bush, but removed and returned to British diplomats by the Obama administration in 2009.

The return of the bust was well publicized with the administration briefly arguing that it had not been sent back but was still in the White House. They later had to correct themselves, after realizing they had indeed returned the piece.
