FAA: Helicopter carrying 3 crashes in north Fla.
PALATKA, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a helicopter carrying three people from a Mayo Clinic hospital has crashed in Florida.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the helicopter had a pilot and two passengers on board when it crashed early Monday near Palatka. It was flying from the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville to Gainesville.
Bergen said it was not known if the passengers were patients or medical staff.
Messages left for the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Mayo Clinic were not immediately returned.
The National Transportation Safety Board also was investigating.
FAA records show the helicopter is owned by SK Jets. The St. Augustine company had no immediate information.
