October 18, 2010
(AP) - A civil rights group says the First Amendment has scored a court victory that will ensure people can take pictures and videos in public spaces outside federal courthouses nationwide.
The settlement announced Monday was reached between the federal government and a photographer who was arrested last November outside federal court in Manhattan. The government agreed to notify federal officers that people can snap photos outside federal courthouses.
The photographer, Antonio Musumeciwas arrested as he videotaped a political protest in a public plaza. The charges were later dropped. He is a resident of Edgewater, N.J.
