(CNSNews.com) – Then National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is joining the chorus of praise for the Obama administration’s executive branch decision to grant rights to certain young illegal aliens, saying the move shows “true leadership” and will provide more secure futures for young people, including those who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.

“We applaud the Obama administration for taking this monumental and inspiring step,” Rea Carey, executive director of the task force, said in a statement. “It shows true leadership.

“It is heartening to know that hundreds of thousands of young people will no longer have to live in daily fear of being forced out of the country, away from the life and dreams they have built,” Carey said. “Our country will be better for it.

“This new policy will help ensure brighter and more secure futures for young people, including countless lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth,” Carey said. “The United States is built on the value that everyone gets a fair shake to fully participate in civic life, and to be able to build a future in the country they love and call home.

“This policy does justice to this fundamental principle and to our common humanity,” Carey’s statement said.

The statement and press release includes the task force’s support for the Democrat-sponsored “Dream Act” legislation, which would give a pathway to citizenship for young people who were brought to the United States illegally as children.
