'Good Samaritan' thieves jailed over UK riots
LONDON (AP) — Two men have been jailed for posing as Good Samaritans and then stealing from an injured Malaysian student during the London riots.
John Kafunda, 22, was captured on amateur video appearing to console Mohammed Asyraf Haziq Rossli after he was assaulted during August's unrest.
As he did, accomplice Reece Donovan, 24, rifled through Rossi's backpack and stole the contents.
Kafunda was sentenced Thursday to three and a half years in prison for robbery and violent disorder. Donovan was sentenced to a total of five years — three and a half for robbery, 18 months for violent disorder and 18 months for burglary.
A third man, 18-year-old Beau Isagba, was jailed last week for seven years after being convicted of grievous bodily harm for punching Rossli and breaking his jaw.
