Richmond, Va. (AP) - Hilton Hotels is relocating its headquarters to Virginia's Fairfax County, creating more than 300 permanent, full-time jobs within the next 36 months.

Gov. Tim Kaine's office says the global hotel company will invest at least $17 million to relocate from Beverly Hills, Calif., to Virginia.

Hilton Chief Executive Christopher Nassetta said Virginia offers the company a more central location for its operations and will help reduce costs. Hilton has more than 3,200 hotels in 77 countries and territories.

Kaine approved a $1 million grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund for the project. He also approved $2.5 million in funds from the Virginia Economic Development Incentive Grant.
