How the poll was conducted

In the U.S., the AP-CNBC telephone poll was conducted Aug. 18-22 by GfK Roper Public Affairs and Corporate Communications. It involved landline and cell phone interviews with 1,000 adults nationwide and has a margin of sampling error of 4.1 percentage points.

The other polls were conducted Aug. 26-28.

The U.K. survey was conducted via GfK NOP Consumer's weekly omnibus survey. It involved landline interviews with 1,000 adults age 16 and over nationwide and has a margin of sampling error of 3.4 percentage points.

The Australia poll was conducted via an Australian national telephone omnibus survey. It involved landline telephone interviews with 1,000 adults age 18 and over in both capital and non-capital city areas. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
