Indiana Campaign Manager Resigns over Anti-Gay Tweets

(AP) - A Republican congressional candidate in Indianapolis says his volunteer campaign manager has resigned after making disparaging comments about gays, Muslims and others on a social networking site.

GOP candidate and Butler University professor Marvin Scott said Tuesday he knew Stan Solomon had controversial ideas but didn't know Solomon was making offensive comments on Twitter.

Scott is an underdog in the race against Congressman Andre Carson in the heavily Democratic 7th District. Carson is one of two Muslims in Congress.

Scott said he disapproves of Solomon's comments and said Solomon was not paid. A blog called The Bilerico Project reported the tweets Monday and called for Scott to fire Solomon.

Solomon told The Associated Press he had no comment.
