DIXON, Calif. (AP) — Several children sustained minor injuries after a school bus collided with a farming tractor and tipped onto its side in a rural area west of Sacramento.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Chris Parker says the mid-sized bus was carrying five students when it struck the tractor on Hackman Road at about 7:30 Wednesday morning near Dixon, about 20 miles west of the state capital.
Parker says the driver of the tractor was making a left turn and had the hazard lights on when the school bus driver tried to pass on the left. The bus struck one of the tractor's tires and flipped onto its side.
Parker says the bus driver suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital, as were all five children. The driver of the tractor sustained no injuries.
