Detroit (AP) - Michigan's attorney general says Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick violated the terms of his bail in an assault case a day after his release from jail over a bail violation in another case.
Attorney General Mike Cox's office filed a court motion Monday saying Kilpatrick violated a provision prohibiting him from having contact with his sister because she is listed as a witness in the assault case.
Kilpatrick attorney James Thomas says the magistrate clarified that order to allow the mayor to see his sister.
The assault charge filed Friday accuses Kilpatrick of shoving a detective. His lawyers deny the claim.
Kilpatrick spent Thursday night in jail after being accused of violating bail in a perjury case involving him and a former aide.
