ERIN, Wis. (AP) — Kelly Kraft is 2-up on UCLA star Patrick Cantlay midway through the final day of the U.S. Amateur championship at Erin Hills.
The tournament's format includes two 18-hole rounds of match play between the two finalists on Sunday. The second round will be played later this afternoon.
Cantlay, going into his sophomore season, is No. 1 in the world amateur rankings. At 19, he's considered a rising star with a bright future in the professional ranks.
Kraft is a lesser-known player coming off his senior season at SMU. But Kraft was confident going into Sunday's final, saying he liked his chances against Cantlay.
