(CNSNews.com) - MoveOn.org's political action committee says it will air a new anti-Bush ad, one day before Dr. Condoleezza Rice testifies publicly before the 9/11 commission.
Rice, who is President Bush's National Security Adviser, is scheduled to testify before the panel on Thursday.
The new ad accuses President Bush of taking political advantage of the 9/11 tragedy and using it as an excuse to invade Iraq.
According to MoveOn PAC, "The ad launch is timed to serve as a backdrop not only to testimony by National Security Advisor Condoleeza [sic] Rice before the 9/11 Commission, scheduled for Thursday, but also a later, closed-door testimony by President Bush and Vice President Cheney."
The ad opens with shots of the Sept. 11 commission, MoveOn PAC said in a press release. An announcer says, "When George Bush testifies, here's what he should say:"
Then a Bush imitator pipes in: "Before 9/11 I was obsessed with Iraq. Then I used 9/11 as an excuse to invade Iraq. So now we're less safe than we were before."
The ad also includes comments made by former White House official Richard Clarke, who testified that fighting terrorism was not a priority for the Bush administration. Clarke also said that by invading Iraq, President Bush undermined the war on terrorism.
The ad closes with the words, "George Bush: A failure of leadership."
MoveOn PAC says it raised $1-million from 23,000 donors in three days, to pay for the ad (an average contribution of $44 each, it said).
The ad is scheduled to air Wednesday through Saturday on CNN.
