LONDON (AP) — Queen Elizabeth II is attending a ceremony at St. Paul's Cathedral to celebrate its 300th anniversary and the completion of a 15-year restoration project.
Tuesday's service marked three centuries since Sir Christopher Wren's masterpiece in London opened to the public.
The restoration work cleaned the church's structure and repaired damage left over from World War II, at a cost of 40 million pounds ($65 million). It included removing coal dust and grime from the exterior, replacing decayed mortar in the stonework and repairing a crack in the dome apparently made from a World War II bomb blast.
