CINCINNATI (AP) — Pleas of not guilty have been entered for an Ohio mother and a nurse charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of the mother's 14-year-old daughter, who had cerebral palsy and weighed only 28 pounds.

Court officials say the not guilty pleas were entered Tuesday in Dayton for those women and for two nurses indicted on lesser charges.

The coroner's office ruled Makayla Norman died March 1 from nutritional and medical neglect complicated by her chronic condition.

The Montgomery County court clerk's office confirms a judge entered not guilty pleas for the mother to charges of involuntary manslaughter and endangering children. An attorney for the nurse charged with involuntary manslaughter says she pleaded not guilty to that charge and to charges of failing to provide for a functionally impaired person and tampering with records.
