Officials: US drone strike kills 4 in NW Pakistan
ISLAMABAD (AP) — Pakistani intelligence officials say a suspected U.S. missile strike has killed four people near the Afghan border.
The officials say the missiles hit a car in Khushali village near Mir Ali in North Waziristan.
They spoke on condition of anonymity Sunday because they were not authorized to talk to reporters.
They say the identity of the four dead is not yet clear.
North Waziristan is home to several Afghan and Pakistani militant groups, as well as foreign al-Qaida fighters.
Pakistan says the strikes help militants attract new recruits and hit civilians, and demands that the U.S. halt them. In the past, there has been evidence suggesting Pakistan has given tacit approval to the strikes.
The U.S. uses unmanned drones to hit militants in the absence of Pakistani moves against them.
