Ohio teen sorry he led 50-mile chase in dump truck
AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio teenager who led authorities on a 50-mile chase in a stolen dump truck will serve more than two years in juvenile detention.
Police video showed the truck striking police cars and other vehicles during the chase through three counties in December.
Media outlets report the 17-year-old boy from Stow acknowledged responsibility for vandalism, assault on police and motorists and other charges in juvenile court this week. The boy must serve more than two years in detention. He's been labeled a serious youthful offender, meaning any further offense could lead to up to 10 years in adult prison.
The teen says he's sorry for what happened. He told a judge he was under the influence of alcohol and doesn't remember much of it.
