(CNSNews.com) – Actor and liberal activist Sean Penn was “dis-honored” with the “Barbra Streisand Political Award for Celebrity Vapidity” at the 25th anniversary gala of the conservative Media Research Center (MRC), held Thursday evening in Washington, D.C.

At the annual gala, the MRC selects some of the worst examples of what it defines as liberal media bias and celebrity bias and gives “DisHonor” awards to the “winners,” who are chosen by a panel of conservative judges.

The MRC is the parent organization of CNSNews.com.

Sean Penn won his DisHonor Award, the “Barbra Streisand Political IQ Award for Celebrity Vapidity,” because of remarks he made about the Tea Party on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight on Oct. 14. 2011.

Penn said, “You have what I call the ‘Get the N-word out of the White House party,’ the Tea Party. … At the end of the day, there’s a big bubble coming out of their heads saying, you know, ‘Can we just lynch him?’”
