Shots fired from burning Washington home
December 7, 2011
SEATTLE (AP) — Authorities say that someone firing a gun through the front window forced firefighters to stay away from a burning home in Washougal, Wash.
By Wednesday afternoon the home was a total loss. Police did not immediately know who was inside, and were investigating to determine what may have happened to them.
No one outside the home was hit by gunfire. One police officer suffered minor injuries from broken glass after his police car was hit by a bullet.
Authorities also closed local streets, and the school district locked down four schools in the area as a precaution.
Washougal is near the Columbia River, about 15 miles east of Vancouver.
