PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani intelligence officials say suspected U.S. drone-fired missiles hit a house near the Afghan border, killing seven alleged militants.

The officials say the strike came early Tuesday morning in Miran Shah, the main town in the North Waziristan tribal area. The suspected militants killed were mostly affiliated with the Pakistani Taliban.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.

North Waziristan is home to a large number of militants who carry out attacks in both Afghanistan and Pakistan.
