MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Officials said at least one tornado has hit the city of Minneapolis, causing significant damage.
The tornado touched down in a northern part of the city that's residential. It was part of a wave of storms that first hit the metro area around 2:15 p.m. Sunday. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Footage from a KSTP-TV helicopter showed scores of homes with roofs peeled back, downed trees and scattered debris.
Xcel Energy reports 22,000 of its customers in the metro area have lost power.
