US skater Wagner switches to Sasha Cohen's coach
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — U.S. skater Ashley Wagner is now training with Sasha Cohen's coach, John Nicks.
Wagner is a two-time bronze medalist at the junior world championships. She announced the switch Tuesday and has relocated to Southern California. She trained the last three years with Priscilla Hill in Wilmington, Del.
Nicks is best known for working with Cohen, the 2006 Olympic silver medalist, and world pairs champions Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner. Nicks has trained 40 U.S. champions at the novice, junior and senior levels the past 43 years.
Wagner finished third at the 2007 and 2009 junior worlds. She won bronze as a senior at the 2008 and 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. But she dropped to sixth at this year's nationals.
