Wisconsin Sen. Kohl to retire
WASHINGTON (AP) — Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Herb Kohl will announce he's not running for re-election in 2012.
Two Democratic sources with knowledge of Kohl's plans told The Associated Press Friday he will announce his decision at a press conference in Milwaukee later in the day.
The announcement is a blow to Democrats who will now have to defend another open seat against Republicans in a swing state. Kohl, also owner of the NBA Milwaukee Bucks, is the fifth Democratic senator to announce his retirement ahead of the 2012 election.
