Miss. governor signs mid-pregnancy abortion ban

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant has signed legislation to ban abortion starting at the midpoint of a full-term pregnancy.

Supporters say it will protect women's health, while abortion-rights advocates say it's unconstitutional.

Bryant signed House Bill 1400 on Wednesday. It becomes law July 1.

Ebola death toll in West Africa rises to 147

DAKAR, Senegal (AP) — The World Health Organization says 147 people have died from the Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa.

In a statement posted on its website, the organization said more than 240 cases of the virus have been recorded in Guinea and Liberia.
