Police: 4 forcibly tattooed man they held hostage

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say four people forcibly tattooed their roommate with racial slurs and obscene images while holding him hostage for three days in a Philadelphia basement.

The two men and two women, who range in age from 19 to 27, are charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, kidnapping and related counts.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police say a Pittsburgh-area woman told them she heard "crazy voices" telling her to push her sons underwater before she sat on the boys in the bathtub, drowning her 3-year-old and leaving his 6-year-old brother in critical condition.

BROOKHAVEN, Pa. (AP) — Police say razor blades were found duct-taped to playground equipment at a park outside Philadelphia.

Police in the Delaware County town of Brookhaven say the blades affixed to equipment in Eaton Park could have injured children playing in the area.

Ex-hero officer faces trial in gunpoint rapes case

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A former Philadelphia police officer who was hailed as a hero and sat next to Michelle Obama at a presidential address will stand trial on charges he raped two prostitutes at gunpoint.

The November trial comes after 28-year-old Richard DeCoatsworth withdrew a plea to reduced charges Tuesday.
