Karlovic hits 44 aces at Zagreb Indoors

ZAGREB, Croatia (AP) — Croatia's Ivo Karlovic hit a record-equaling 44 aces to defeat Daniel Brands of Germany and advance to the second round of the Zagreb Indoors tournament on Tuesday.

The towering Karlovic matched the record of Mark Philippoussis in the number of aces in a best-of-three match, beating Brands 6-7 (4), 7-5, 7-6 (3).
