Ferrer, Robredo into quarterfinals in Rio Open

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Fourth-seeded Tommy Robredo of Spain reached the quarterfinals of the Rio Open on Wednesday, defeating Dusan Lajovic of Serbia 6-2, 6-1 at the outdoor clay tournament.

Robredo has won 12 ATP titles, 11 on clay.

Tsonga and Gasquet reach Open 13 quarters

MARSEILLE, France (AP) — Defending champion Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France beat Nikolay Davydenko 7-6 (4), 7-6 (8) on Wednesday to reach the Open 13 quarterfinals.

The second-seeded Tsonga, who had 19 aces, improved to 4-2 in career head-to-heads against the Russian who reached a career-high ranking of third.

Sampras: Federer can win another major title

LONDON (AP) — Former No. 1 Pete Sampras says Roger Federer could play for another "two, three, four more years" and add to his tally of 17 Grand Slam titles.

Speaking ahead of an exhibition match against Andre Agassi in London on March 3, Sampras said on a conference call that he is "amazed" by Federer's longevity.
